This Is Bramble!

Here is Bramble when he was about eight months old.

Bramble was born. along with his brother Basil and two sisters, Bobbin and Barley, on 22nd June 2000 to Sadie, our lilac point Siamese.

This was my first experience of a cat giving birth to kittens and I stayed awake all night to be by Sadie's side. It was a wonderful experience and something that I will never forget. She started to labour at about 10 o'clock the night before and it must have been 3 or 4am before the first kitten was born. I'm not sure know which kitten was born in what order because they all looked very dark - and wet! - when they were born, but all four arrived safely and Sadie immediately knew what to do.

Sadie made a wonderful mother to her kittens. It is a shame that we were unable to let her have more litters. However our own personal circumstances, and the fact that I do not believe in breeding lots of kittens unless you know that you can find home for them that you know and trust, well, that meant that Sadie was spayed not long after.

Doesn't he look handsome against the red carpet!

Bramble is now 2 years old and a very handsome cat. He is a bit of a wanderer and not long ago he went missing for a week. We can only conclude that he got shut into a house or garage whilst the owners were away. I was so relieved when he came home, a bit thinner, a bit hoarse from meowing and possibly lack of water, but otherwise none the worse for his disappearance.

He continues to wander, but he comes home more regularly now and he sleeps on my bed for the most part of every day. He has a big, loud purr and a very big voice which he uses to great effect. The only thing that causes some concern is that he can be a bit quick with his teeth and claws
and I have to supervise Elizabeth with him as he can be a bit sharp with her.

And just to show you that he can be a real softie too, here is my little tabby flower.
